Environmental Education

With the funding and Collaboration with Africa Conservation Foundation (ACF), ERMIS Africa is implementing an environmental education programme in local Schools around Mau Forest Complex. This is in recognition that the sustainability of Mau Forest Complex Ecosystem is dependent upon inter-generational guardianship for biodiversity of Mau Forest Complex.

The proposed curriculum will include such topics like environmental conservation, preservation and protection. Activities will include planting of trees within and around the school, environmental competitions in such drawings, poems, composition writing and construction of poems (both in English and Kiswahili).

The topics will curb the incidence of deforestation, overgrazing, inappropriate cultivation methods, soil erosion, and pollution of water resources.

Additional funding is being sourced to implement the project beyond the planned pilot phase
